Prints

Printmaking strictly refers to the outcome of printing an engraving; engraving being a set of techniques that utilize grooves or incisions, typically on wood or metal, to produce a series of images or texts.

Today, the term "print" also refers to the impression obtained through artistic reproduction techniques such as lithography or screen printing.

An original print is a creative work achieved by printing from a matrix (or multiple matrices in the case of multicolor printing done by the artist themselves or under their direct supervision). This distinct artistic technique allows for effects that painting or drawing cannot achieve. It also serves the artist in disseminating their work more widely.
